TIPS AND TRICKS
EN ROUTE STORIES....
ALWAYS HAVE STAKES
Stakes are what give a story urgency and energy. They create tension. They fill the listener with excitement or dread, and they give them a reason to go on this ride with you. Clear stakes establish why you care, which tells us why we should care.
USUALLY ARE ABOUT A TRANSFORMATION
The story must go deeper than an anecdote. Why did this story leave a lasting effect? Who were you at the beginning and who were you at the end? How were you changed? How do you live your life differently as a result of the events in the story?
OFTEN REVOLVE AROUND A DECISION
Every good story hinges on a decision. Always, at the story's core, will be one key decision. In the most powerful stories, your decision will be a tough one. What happened is of less importance; Your audience really wants to know what you decided to do about what happened.

This experience has been amazing. I've learned so much about myself, delving deeper into my background and shattering some self-limiting beliefs along the way. It has reminded me of the importance of vulnerability and how we can all learn from our setbacks. Most importantly, it was great fun!

This was a completely new thing for me and both the workshops and individual coaching time made extremely interesting and approachable. I particularly enjoyed the process of learning to deconstruct the story and see it as moving parts to be analyzed and explored individually before putting them back together. I believe this experience will help me see my personal histories from a different perspective and thus gain new insights about myself.
Working with Oki on En Route was an amazing experience. It gave me the opportunity to tell a story dear to my heart and to process the death of my dearest friend.
